In many schools you hear announcements about GLBT clubs and the various achievements of people who chose such a lifestyle.  If you’re hearing these, you need to know two things:  First, these are not just clubs for existing members--those announcements are publicity efforts, intended to legitimize their sex-preoccupied behavior and recruit new members.  Second, you have both a legal right and a moral duty to stand up for what you believe on campus and in public.

Sometimes, those who talk loudest and most often about tolerance and equal rights are not always the most tolerant.  They need to show true tolerance and respect for the viewpoints of others, on campus and off campus.

Bad news: some who are bigots claiming to be ‘tolerant’ are trying to censor free speech.  The good news is, by law, you have the same opportunity to have an on-campus club, -- so start an Unquestionably Female Club -- and encourage your guy friends to start an Unquestionably Male Club (promote them separately, meet together at least sometimes!)  Watch for some more ideas soon.

For a Female club, you might celebrate the lives of women such as Florence Nightengale, Marie Curie, Joan of Arc, public speaker Ann Graham Lott, radio commentator Janet Parshall, Revolutionary War heroines Betsy Ross and Molly Pitcher.  Check out Susan B. Anthony. And don’t forget Ruth, Queen Esther, the prophetess Deborah and the community leader Lydia and many other women in the Bible.  Stick with a narrative tone, as told in the book of Ruth in the Old Testament, without being ‘preachy’ or ‘religious’ when you make your P.A. announcement.

A Male club could describe the lives of great leaders past and present including Jesus of Nazareth, Martin Luther, John Calvin, William Wilburforce, John the Baptist, Billy Graham, C.S. Lewis, Charles Spurgeon, A.W. Tozer, Jonathan Swift, D.L. Moody, the Apostle Paul, Polycarp--the list is nearly endless as well.

It only takes one person on a campus to light a moral ‘candle’ and others will join when you take the lead.  Print out some Bracelets, get a friend or two and go for it!
